Mr. Ong Ye Kung remarked that education is a highly personalised value transmission process notwithstanding the digitalisation…ChildFirst introduces “coding” as a third language into their curriculum.
Our acquaintance with ChildFirst started 8 years ago when Kenneth, our first child, commenced his preschool journey in 2012. We were impressed with ChildFirst’s innovative approach towards bilingualism (now tri-lingualism!) and Multiple Intelligences Curriculum. The school strongly believes that every child can develop his or her own unique talents. We totally agreed with this. Kenneth is now in Primary 4 and coping relatively well with his academic and non-academic pursuits. We believe this was due to ChildFirst providing a good foundation for him. We had so much faith in ChildFirst’s propositions that we subsequently enrolled Kenneth’s siblings Sophia and Eugene into full-day child care with ChildFirst even though there were help at home to take care of them. We knew that they will be in good hands in ChildFirst.
The world is moving feverishly ahead with respect to digitalisation. Like all technology and innovation, the ongoing disruptions will create many new opportunities. To ensure that our children have access to these new prospects, ChildFirst introduces “coding” as a third language into their curriculum. Our kids attended elementary coding class, and they enjoyed it very much. While we are grateful that our kids were provided such opportunity, we are mindful that morality and ethical values shouldn’t be undermined. In this regard, ChildFirst and the teachers balance this aspect well – leading our kids toward own digital journey yet never losing sight of timeless personalised attributes in life which digitalisation can never replace.
A recent remark by our Minister of Education summed this up nicely. Mr. Ong Ye Kung remarked that education is a highly personalised value transmission process notwithstanding the digitalisation. Good teacher and principal cannot be totally replaced by robots. We agreed with this. You can rest assured that ChildFirst will do this well.
