Integrating Media Production Know-How With Chinese Cultural Appreciation
We live in a digital world where the presence of technology in our daily lives is ever-increasing. Knowing how to apply technology is a vital skill. Our media production lessons enable children to apply digital tools and hardware to ideate, plan, create, edit, and share their messages with others.
Children learn about the different types of media such as news, advertisements and films, as well as how information can be transmitted through these mediums. They are also involved in the creative process of creating a digital storyboard using PowerPoint.
In this video below, children were encouraged to expand their mindsets and explore using media production to enhance their appreciation of traditional Chinese stories and poetry. They learnt to scan, create simple animations using digital tools such as Powerpoint, and explore sound effects for the final production. This increased their engagement in learning and ignited their interest in Chinese culture.
